Self: 100% natural, cruelty free and vegan skin care

Natural and vegan skin care

Yes, we all have a long weekend in Belgium! Today is a bank holiday and I loveee long weekends. Why? It’s the perfect time to have some me-time! Fill a warm bath, gather your favourite beauty products and make it extra cozy with some candles and your favourite magazine. The weather isn’t that great today so you’ll have the perfect excuse! Seriously, I love this! We often forget how important SELF-care is…. In our busy society we’re always busy and this can have a huge impact on your health/ body. Today I’ll schedule some me-time with my favourite Belgian brand Self. This brand is 100% Belgian, natural, vegan and cruelty free. If there’s one thing I’m proud of, it’s our Belgian beauty products. Time to tell you all about Self!

The story behind Natural Self

Isabelle is the lady behind Natural Self and she created her brand with a purpose. Her daughter has difficult skin and Isabelle couldn’t find the right skin care product, one that respects nature and is completely natural/free of chemicals. After all these false promises all these brands are offering, she decided  to create her own line of products and Self was born. Today she has helped a lot of people with sensitive skin and I couldn’t be more happy about that because I’ve got difficult skin as well.

100% natural skin care brand

I like to know what I put on my skin. It shouldn’t come as a surprise to you, but a lot of makeup and skin care contain chemicals. All these ingredients are bad for us and that’s why I’m into all things natural and vegan. Natural Self is one of those natural brands and it’s 100% Belgian! Yay, because I love to support local entrepreneurs. Besides natural it’s also vegan and cruelty free! To count as ‘vegan’, the list of ingredients needs to be free from animal-derived ingredients such as collagen, lipids, honey, beeswax and lots of other things. Time to take a look at the different ingredients.

Natural Ingredients

Self is free of parabens, artifical odors and colors and other chemical components. It’s 100% natural, environmentally friendly and cruelty free. The products are safe for babies, pregnant women and sensitive/ difficult skin. As you might know I’m suffering from a slight form of rosacea (broken blood vessels) and my skin is very sensitive. That’s the reason why I’m only using gentle cleansing products and a day/ nightcream which nourishes my skin. Self is one of the only brands that really soothe my skin.

List of the most common ingredients:

  • Coconut oil: it helps against inflammation, it protects skin against free radicals, moistures and nourishes skin.
  • Macadamia: contains vitamins A, B and E and minerals. It smoothes fine lines and combats skin aging and it is quickly absorbed.
  • Argan oil:  one of the richtes natural sources of antioxidants. It contains vitamin E and essential acids. It restores skin and protects against drought.
  • Shea butter: contains vitamin A,D and E. It improves elasticity of skin, has UV protection, stimulates production of new cells.
  • Aloe vera: helps to heal skin, is great for acne, has a soothing and moisturizing effect.
