NORDIC FASHION I PUTIIK.COM

The fashion industry is huge with new stores and fashion labels popping up every single day. Scandinavian style has literally taken over the Western Europe and other parts of the world. Fashion chain stores are getting inspired by this Nordic way of living and I can totally see why. The minimalist style, chicness and cleanness are something that Scandinavians are known for. Hence, it is no surprise that Scandinavian bloggers are currently the top people to follow. Their ‘effortlessly chic look’ and easy way of throwing an outfit together is something that we admire. Scandinavian fashion is not only timeless, but also sophisticated. How do they get this ‘effortlessly chic look’ every single day?

I wrote my ultimate Scandinavian style guide on how to dress like a Scandinavian:

1. BASIC ITEMS | NEUTRAL TONES

Rule number one: great basic pieces are essential to any wardrobe. I love to look at basic items as an investment. The whole ‘less is more’ thing is what Scandinavian style is about. They have a never-ending love for neutral tones, that’s for sure. Furthermore, they like to mix contrasting quality fabrics. It is all about simplicity and looking clean. An effortless blouse or the little black dress? There are some wardrobe essentials you will definitely need, like a black trouser and a plain T-shirt.

Take a look at my favourite PUTIIK items:

2. KEEP IT MINIMAL | JEWELLERY

Scandinavian minimalism is huge right now. One of the trends I have noticed is the use of geometrical shapes. Scandinavian design is all about the beauty of the geometrical aspect. There is this focus on shape and texture rather than on a lot of colours. Add gold and you will have a statement piece. I absolutely love this golden ring. Nordic people have attention to detail when it comes to accessories.

3. IT IS ALL ABOUT LAYERING

Scandinavians embrace the cold weather with layers, layers and again layers. There is something about it, which makes it elegant.

4. FLATTIES

If there is one thing I have learned about Scandinavians it is that they can make wearing flat shoes look chic. I always thought you have to wear high heels to get this chic look but think again: flats are the footwear of choice to finish your Scandinavian inspired outfit. This totally represents their way of living and style: comfortable and simple, yet chic. Nevertheless, of course every woman needs a pair of black heels in her shoe collection too, even the Scandinavians.

Try to stick to these tips and you will find your inner Scandinavian: elegant, minimalistic and oh so chic.

I love the Scandinavian feel! I am huge on neutral colors and minimalistic jewelry. Like you, I need to still embrace flats. I am very short so naturally, I feel and look better in heels. But since becoming a Fitness Trainer, I’ve come to love my sneakers and my height. Can’t wait to venture out on other flat shoes!
