Last weekend I realized it’s my boyfriend’s 25th birthday and I wanted to buy him a present. But it’s hard to find something for him (he already has everything he needs). Such a cliché, but it’s much easier to find a gift for women than men, right? That’s why I decided to book a hotel room and since I hadn’t visited Rotterdam yet I decided to visit this city. For those who follow my blog: you probably already know I love ‘a room with a view’. When I was comparing different hotels I found a picture of the view from hotel Nhow and I fell in love with it. This is it, I thought to myself. Today I’m telling you all about our trip and the hotel!
My boyfriend didn’t have a clue where we were going, my dad and I made him believe our destination was Normandy but after a while he figured out this wasn’t possible as we only had to drive for about 140 km. When we arrived at the hotel we could already check in, I was so happy because it was about 30 degrees that day. Parking is in the same building (Qpark) and is about 30 euros a day! Our room was on the 19th floor and when we opened the door I couldn’t believe my eyes. Such an amazing view…. We could see the bridge, the water, all the buildings of Rotterdam, in 1 word: AMAZING. The interior was amazing as well: clean, modern and a beautiful bathroom.
The food is very good. There is a beautiful bar and restaurant on the 7th floor and a terrace overlooking Rotterdam. If you stay at Nhow you should check out the terrace because it offers a breathtaking view. The first evening we couldn’t sit there, there wasn’t a single table free but the last evening we were able to see the sunset and drink some cocktails. Such a beautiful evening! Breakfast is amazing as well: all kinds of smoothies, eggs, donuts and sweets, … Just perfect!
We decided to go explore Rotterdam and took the water taxi. Nhow hotel is on the other side of the bridge and it was way too hot to go by foot. The water taxi is the perfect way to discover Rotterdam, it’s not that cheap but I loved it! The taxi stops in front of the hotel and you just have to make a call for reservation. It took them about 15 minutes to get to us.
Rotterdam has some amazing bars and restaurants, and we decided to have a break at Supermercado, a trendy restaurant where you can enjoy Latin-American food and streetfood. Supermercado has a cocktailbar as well and I would recommend the cocktail with watermelon. You can also participate in workshops where a bartender teaches you everything about the art of making cocktails!
If you love streetfood and other cultures, you should visit Markthal. This is a huuuuge building with different food stands selling all kinds of things: Thai food, Spanish tapas, famous Dutch cheese, candy, Moroccan cuisine, nuts, wine and much more but I can’t mention them all. We decided to eat Thai food because I was craving for noodles with lots of vegetables. But you can find literally everything at Markthal. Besides that I also love the cozy vibe over there, it’s crowdy but very cozy. 😉 Fun fact: people live in those ‘tiny’ little rooms you see up there.
I loved our trip to Rotterdam! Have you visited this wonderful city?
