The girl behind the blog I young graduate

This is not one of the regular articles on this blog. This is about the social media addict behind the screen. Yep, about me. No, I will not bore you with an endless story, but I do want to tell you something about myself. I am one of those young graduates who is looking for a job at this moment. Something I am good at, something I love. I applied for a lot of jobs. Some of the HR managers told me I have a lack of experience. Instead of inviting me over for an interview, that is the only thing they told me. I already know I do have a lack of experience but please, give young graduates a chance.  So today, I am telling you all about some of the things/ projects I have accomplished in my life. I might not have a lot of working experience, I do believe I have achieved some great things in life.

The start of something different

I have always been interested in photography. When I was about 14 years old, I asked my parents if I could have a camera as a reward for the good grades I got.  This is how it all started. Nop, I did not read the manual of that camera, I just started making photos  (I have 3 sisters, there is always someone I can take pictures of). Note: I am not a professional photographer, I teached myself how to do it and well I love it.  Capturing beautiful moments is the most amazing thing.

Marketing: the start of my own blog

At the end of high school I did already know what I wanted to study and that was the start of my life as a marketing student. I had my own little studio in Leuven. Most of the time I was alone and I felt like I had to do something in my life. That’s when I started my own blog, Littlelouvain. I wanted to combine my two biggest passions: writing and photography. After a year and a half, I do have almost 10 000 combined followers on my social media. Thanks to my blog, I was able to attend a lot of different events. I have met great people during this adventure!

Marketing changed everything. I was a student at UC Leuven-Limburg and I did receive different opportunities during my life as a marketing student. We were allowed to work on certain projects. I was copywriter for a LED light company and was allowed to manage the direct marketing of a bar in Hoeilaart. I organised a press event, invited some journalists and wrote press releases to inform them all. I received the price of ‘most creative marketeer of the first year’ together with some amazing students.

There were some other great achievements. I was allowed to design the logo of a wellness. This was not something I learned at school. I wanted to learn all about Illustrator and decided to give it a try. The following logo is the result of just trying to understand Illustrator. :–)

I recently started making videos. I learned everything about Imovie and started editing. The video below is one of my latest creations. The visual aspect has become more important the last couple of years. A video says more than photos.

Internship: communication agency

This was my last year as a marketing student. Like every other student, I had to find a company for my internship. That’s when I found a great communication agency in Leuven, such a great team. I was able to work together with the public relations & influencer marketing team. I did have to write a paper and we immediately found a great subject: the evolution of influencer marketing within public relations. I was able to learn how to write great press releases, to brainstorm about upcoming influencer marketing campaigns and I was even allowed to manage their social media profile.

I could go on, but again: I do not want to bore you with an endless story about me, myself and I. Want to say hi or hear everything about the rest of the story? I would love to hear from you! And for now: follow your dreams guys, just like I am following mine.
