Trip to Maasmechelen Village I tea workshop Kusmi

Yesterday I was invited to a tea workshop in Maasmechelen Village with tea master Jinai Looi who lives in Rotterdam but she is originally from Singapore.  Jinai Looi is the founder of Het zesde Geluk  and regularly organizes cooking workshops. I’m so greatful, the workshop was really interesting and I learned a lot about all different kinds of tea and how to make the perfect cup of tea. Afterwards my dear friend Bo and I went on a little shopping spree, another great friend of mine, Marlieke, unfortunately couldn’t join us . I’ll tell you all about our trip in today’s post.

Tea workshop

When I received the invitation I couldn’t say no. Tea is one of those things I enjoy the most in life.  Apparently I didn’t know as much about tea as I thought I would and well, this workshop was really interesting. Jinai Looi is a tea master and she let us taste different kinds of Kusmi tea.  If you want to see how she made the perfect cup of tea for us , you can always watch the video below.

Kusmi Tea Pop-up Shop

The history behind a brand can be really interesting. The eldest son of a family, Pavel Michailovitch Kousmichoff left his parents when he was 14 years old, he worked as a delivery boy for a tea merchant in St Petersburg. The employer taught him the art of blending tea. Pavel married to Alexandra who was the daughter of a succesful merchant. Pavel’s employer gave him a small teahouse and that’s how the story began in 1867. Pavel had  11 tea houses. For 150 years Kusmi has been offering high quality tea blends such as Detox, Prince Vladimir or Green Bouquet. Each blend has its own name and story.

Kusmi is known for its colourful packaging. Whenever you’re in Maasmechelen Village, I do recommend to visit the shop. Explore the different scents and tastes, it will surprise you how nice these different blends smell and taste. More information can be found over here.

Shopping @ Maasmechelen Village

Maasmechelen Village is a concept in outlet shopping, I had never visited Maasmechelen Village before and this was the perfect opportunity to discover all the shops. I discovered luxury brands such as Michael Kors, Swarovski, Armani and Essentiel and the nice thing about this concept is that you can save up to 60%. Prices are lower than the recommended retail price. Curious what I bought? Watch the video below.

A special thanks goes out to Jinai Looi, Maasmechelen Village and Kusmi tea.

With love,

Elien

Zo jammer dat ik er niet bij kon zijn, want het zag er heel interessant uit! Aangezien ik geen fan ben van koffie maar des te meer van thee had ik het graag meegedaan hihi 🙂
