Fashion has changed a lot in the past 100 years. The ‘roaring twenties’ as they call it is a decade of change. After World War One style loosened up, the corsets came off and skirts got shorter. Fashion was all about liberation at that time: loose and straight, shorter and with a waistline at the hips. The iconic flapper dress really defines the 1920’s. The term ‘flappers’ refers to young women from the 1920’s who wore very short skirts, listened to jazz and behaved in an unconventional manner. This was considered unusual for that decade.
Think of iconic women from the twenties such as Coco Chanel, Greta Garbo and Gloria Swanson. These women are amongst the top trendsetters of that decade. Coco Chanel recreated ‘the little black dress’. In the 1920’s it was unusual to wear black, this colour was reserved for times of death. The little black dress is timeless and has survived decades. Every woman needs a little black dress.

Darccy & Soma is all about feminine designs, detailing, intricate embroidery and lace. They are located in London but do have stockists all over Europe. Their contemporary collection is very vintage inspired and reminds me of the twenties.
I chose this sequin lace dress which is vintage inspired and combined it with this beautiful hair accessory from Laurence Delvallez. This outfit is perfect for Christmas and New year. I’m already looking forward to family dinners and parties!
