Story time: about my work and passion

What I do for a living

There’s one question I often get: “what do you do for a living, are you still studying?” Well no I’m not a student, I graduated last year, but thanks for the compliment. 😉 Somehow a lot of people don’t really understand what I do in my daily life but I do understand why. Right now we’re living in a society full of freelancers and I don’t really have one short sentence to describe my job because I do a lot of different things ranging from social media tot copywriting or photography. That’s why I decided to write a full blog post about my work and my little improvised office. Ready? Here we go!

Personal story

I’m a freelancer working for different companies in Belgium and The Netherlands. I help companies with their online marketing and this can be all kinds of things: photography, copywriting, social media, editing content, updating websites and so on. I love my job because It enables me to be creative in so many different ways. One day I’m editing photos and the other day I’m writing texts, no two days are the same.

This love for online marketing and photography started when I was a little child. When I was about 12 years old I begged my parents to buy me a camera and that’s when I started photographing nature and my 3 lovely sisters. I wanted to become a photographer but at the end I chose marketing over my love for photography. I thought this would give me more chances in life, and that’s why I went to Leuven to study marketing. This was the beginning of my blog

I don’t know why but when I was about 12 years old I had this strong feeling I wanted to become a freelancer. I couldn’t really see me working for a boss, I just love to work alone and to choose my working hours. Sooo in september 2017 I decided to take the plunge, thanks to my parents who encouraged me to do this. If you don’t try it, you’ll never know, right? And I couldn’t be more happy I did this! Well yes of course there are some disadvantages and downs as well but this makes you stronger.

July 2018

It’s the end of July 2018 and so much has happened in such a short amount of time. That’s why I want to reminisce on this beautiful period. I’ve learned so much already and it makes me so happy if clients are satisfied. That’s why I’m doing this, because I strongly believe if entrepreneurs help each other amazing things can happen. After all we’re all in this together, right? Right now I’m working for all kinds of companies ranging from beauty brands to tea producers, restaurants, shopping communities, fashion brands, furniture manufacturers and so on. That’s the interesting part of my job: it’s amazing to get to know all these different industries.

My office

At the moment I’m not living in Leuven any longer, but I do want to buy a house in Leuven really soon.  Right now I’m working in my improvised office. Not really a desk, just a table where we eat dinner with the entire family haha. 🙂 But it’s a great space for now and I love the view! Being surrounded by nature is great for productivity (in my case). The weather is amazing right now in Belgium, but I do like to light some candles even in the middle of the day. I love the cozy vibe and the scented candles fill the room with an AMAZING scent. Do you guys know this brand called WoodWick? They have the most beautiful candles ever which smell like heaven. Anyway, my office is the place where I spend a lot of time every single day. Yes, also in the weekends because work never stops if you’re a freelancer! I don’t mind it, sometimes I’m even working at 11 in the evening, but it’s something I love.
